The Journey with the Holy Spirit part 3
Today we are reading another story about the encounter with the Holy Spirit,
So I was in Sunday service at the church and we were singing this song that was about… I give you my all, all of my possessions… My wonderful Lord… please rule over me and direct me and the Lord was like REALLY? For how long are you going to sing the same words without meaning them? How long are you going to praise me with your lips but without your hearts, how long are you going to sing/say that until there's a shift/real change in your life/attitude/decisions?
I paused and I was like Holy Spirit is that you? Am I really hearing you? He was like I can't count how many times I've heard you people sing these songs… literally every week you're in the church asking me to work with you, to change you, saying you're surrendering your hearts but it's just lip service… As soon as you get out you forget what you were singing about… suddenly I remembered the scripture in Matthew 15:8 … which says “‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me”
He told me we make a prayer asking him to use us, to send us but as soon as he calls on you… you tell him not now Lord, I still have a busy schedule, a lot is going on with my life… wait till I become free then I'll do what you want me to do… then the next Sunday you make a same prayer asking him to use you and as soon as he gives you an assignment you get lost and at some level it's really devastating… except that he's not a man to give up on us but he gets angry too… How can you grow in your relationship with him if all you do is invite him and ghost him? He is always welcoming and waiting for us to come and serve but until when is he going to wait for your readiness? (P.S: Ready is a decision you make!)
If there is something I have learnt about God is that he doesn't call the qualified, 100% free… but he calls those who are willing and he makes provisions for what he wants you to do. If it's funds, he'll give them … if it's connections, he'll connect you to the right people… there is no valid excuse for you to say No to him because he equips/qualifies those he calls and are willing.
I don't know what he has asked you to do, whether it's starting a business, going back to school, serving in the ministry, writing books, recording that song, apologizing or forgiving that person… I don't know where he's called you to go but please stop it with lip service. Please, I beseech you to repent and come back to the Lord committed to him & where he's sending you. That way we'll grow in our journey with him while obeying his word. Let's not play games with him; let's not be the ones who call him and be the ones to back out.
God bless you for reading and I pray that one way or another you'll come back to him fully committed and submitted.
Love you all… see you next time!
