Forgive yourself.

We’re often taught to forgive others but sometimes we forget ourselves that we, too, need forgiveness. Not from someone else, but from within.

Forgive yourself for the mistakes you’ve made. For the promises you broke to yourself. For the times you weren’t committed to your own growth. Forgive yourself even for the hurt you may have caused others.

It’s a painful thing to be forgiven by God or by others, yet still carry guilt inside. When in truth, you should be the first to show yourself compassion and grace.

Let it go... the guilt, the accusations, the weight of your past. Release it. Choose to forgive yourself.

Just in case you're wondering how to forgive yourself... Below here are steps to forgive yourself:

  1. Admit what happened: Be honest about your mistake don’t ignore it or exaggerate it.
  2. Take responsibility: Accept what you did, but remember: you made a mistake but you are not the mistake.
  3. Feel it, don’t hide it: Allow yourself to feel guilt, but don’t let it turn into shame.
  4. Make it right if you can: Apologize, fix what’s possible, or choose to do better going forward.
  5. Change your self-talk: Speak to yourself with understanding, not harsh judgment.
  6. Accept the past: You can’t change what happened but you can choose what happens next.
  7. Decide to let go: Say it clearly: “I forgive myself. I’m moving forward.”
  8. Grow from it: Let your mistake shape you into a better, wiser person.

N.B: This is you we are talking about... Before anyone else forgives you, forgive yourself and keep doing so, every single time you fall short.

Be kind to yourself. The life you live and the love you give… both begin with you.

Prayer:

Father God I pray for your children, I break every yoke that the enemy has placed over their lives... every lie, every guilt and every accusation he brings from their past.

Your Word says that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I speak freedom and forgiveness over their lives. Let there be no more weight from their mistakes; instead, let mercy and grace be their daily portion.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Be Blessed, Be Healed and be made well!
